OUGD603: Evaluation (Brief 1)

by Roxxie Blackham on Friday, 10 October 2014

Being the first live brief of the year, I was really excited to get to work on this brief. However, working with a client through an agency proved quite difficult, as I would send my work onto the agency and they would send it over to the client who would then send feedback that they sent to me. This meant that sometimes I would be waiting a while to receive feedback, or feedback that I did receive was a bit confusing.

Saying that, I found working with this client really easy! They knew what they wanted, which meant that I didn't have that much creative freedom, but it also meant that the brief was easy to produce as I was following strict guidelines and designing something exactly how they wanted it. I learnt a lot about working with clients through this brief, as well as how to act professionally with your clients and how to write an invoice - which I'd never done before!

I enjoyed working on this brief as it was a quick turn around, plus I got paid at the end of it which was a nice bonus! I'm not sure if it's going to be a portfolio piece, as editorial design isn't really something I want to focus on, but hopefully when I receive photos of how the published book looked in the end, I might be more excited to put it in my portfolio!
