Before meeting up with Jessie, she told me a little bit about how she wants her commercial photography to be branded, so I had a quick scour over existing projects to see if I could find some inspiration to help generate ideas.
Words to note:
- contemporary
- professional
- slick
- commercial
The reason why this project attracted my eye was the colour scheme. I think that the colours are extremely complimentary of one another and give the idea of sophistication as well as keeping a feminine touch.
I was attracted to the colour scheme again, but also to the use of foiling on the business cards and cover of the publication. I also really enjoy the simplicity of the overall look to this brand.
I think the simplicity of this branding helps to add professionalism to the brand. I was also intrigued by the portrait business cards, rather than using usual landscape layout.
I think that the web design for this project is classic and simple, and could work well as there aren't any distractions from the photographs.
I think that this kind of layout could work well for a photography portfolio, as the images take up the majority of the page and the navigation is simple and clear.
I find the layout of this website really intriguing and different to a lot of web layouts - you can see that they've obviously followed a clear layout and it helps make the website coherent and professional.
Again I felt quite inspired by the layout of this website, as obvious grid systems have been used within the layout to keep a clear and coherent style. I think that there is an obvious feel of professionalism in this design.
Once again I was looking at the interesting layout of this website. Reminds me a bit of a blog layout, where you can click on certain photos to enlarge them for more info. Navigation bars and logos in black and white work well, as they don't distract you from the content of the website.
I really liked the way these products were photographed, using the different coloured paper in the background, as it helped to pull the branding elements across. I also loved the bronze foiling that they used across the products, as it immediately made the stationery elegant and sophisticated.
I then met up with Jessie and we went over a few more things in a bit more detail that she wanted to cover...
