Beehive Papercut
I really like the way this designer has used paper cutting techniques to create layers out of the paper in a way that makes it look 3D without actually creating 3D origami style objects. I think the addition of hand made bumblebees adds to the design and makes it look more realistic. I think working with wildlife would work well for our brief, due to the festival being called Wilderness and their current branding incorporating flowers and nature.
The Starbox
Again, the way that the paper has been cut out and stuck down in layers is extremely effective. I think that the colour palette is aesthetically pleasing and the geometric pattern is really interesting to look at. We could create a similarly detailed pattern easily using the laser cutter, which means that everything would be cut out precisely to scale, which would also save us a lot of time and hassle!!
Adobe Creative Cloud
I quite like the colour palette that has been used for this design. I don't particularly like the design itself, but the simplicity of the shapes works a lot better than I thought it would and the layered effect helps to add a sense of depth to the design.
Vinyl Cover
I like the layered effect to add depth and dimension to this vinyl cover artwork made from paper. James and I had already discussed maybe layering up paper to create a landscape setting or typical scene at Wilderness festival. and I still think that this could work really well for the posters etc as at first glance it looks like a simple illustration, but on closer inspection you notice that it's made from layered and 3D paper, and I really like that effect.

I found this project interesting, as they have considered the use of geometry and 3-dimensional paper structures throughout the entire project, not just for the photoshoots, which is exactly what me and James are going for with our Wilderness project. I really like the bright and colourful, 70s inspired colours, and how everything ties in together perfectly throughout the brand. I think that when we design our logo for Wilderness, we should try to incorporate the entire feel for the brand, with the choice of colours and typeface used.
Watergate Berlin
I really like these little paper creations, I think it would be quite nice to incorporate 3D flowers and wildlife in our designs, as well as simple layered paper, as it will add more depth to the work as well as a variety of design styles, showing off our different skills. I also really like the natural palette of colours, with the greens and pinks.
Nojesguiden
I think it's crazy that you can literally make anything out of paper and it looks really like the real thing, like with all this different kind of food that has been made. I don't really want to produce anything as detailed as this, as I feel as though it would be a lot of work for us as we haven't designed paper constructions before, but I think it's inspiring to know what we could achieve if we had the time to work on a lot of 3D paper structures.
Paper Mask
Although this is really weird, I like all the colours that have been used, as they're vibrant and appealing. I also find the design quite interesting and a bit edgy. I could imagine high fashion magazines being inspired by this kind of thing and making models walk down the catwalk with paper pieces stuck to them.

I love these paper hummingbirds! I think that they are really well crafted and the designer obviously has a lot of skill with paper, as they look really realistic. It was interesting to see how they were created on the original post, as you saw how they made a little papier mache body to attach all of the feathers to - this could be something to bare in mind when me and James are making our paper things, as we could create birds or something similar by using papier mache and attaching the paper details onto it afterwards, which would save a lot of time and hassle, and means that we don't have to be masters of origami!

I find that quilling works really well and always looks really vibrant and interesting, and you can really sense the hand made feel when quilling has been used. However, we incorporated quilling in our last collaborative brief together and it was a massive pain in the bum, and our posters took hours of slave labour to produce, so I think we're going to steer clear of this paper craft technique this time, as we have a large brief to overcome without taking up our entire time twiddling with paper.

I like this because it's a really simple way of working with typography and paper incorporated. The use of nails/pins to hold the paper up off of the wood is a nice little added effect, as it creates shadows on the poster without having to generate them onto the computer afterwards, and it even makes the typography stand out against the wood more, as you can see that the website at the bottom has just been placed on afterwards, and doesn't look quite so crisp or bright against the wooden background.

Taal Lake Bathymetric Map
I think that the use of layering up paper works really well for this project, as it helps to make the gradients of the hills stand out on the map, and map gradients have quite interesting shapes, so I think that they reflect against each other really well, especially with the use of the shades of green and blue that blend into one another really well.
Type Scan Alphabet
I found some of these letters interesting from the type scan alphabet, as it was interesting to see someone work with paper in so many different ways, as every letter was different, therefore creating a variety of effects. I especially liked the way that they cut letters out of the paper in a way that makes them look 3D.
Eyewear Magazine
I thought that this project was quite humorous and different to a lot of the other stuff I have looked at. I like the idea of suspending paper in the air to create compositions for photographing - this is something that James and I should definitely consider when we work on our paper composition.
Paper Fire
I really like how this paper fire was inspired by existing leaves, and how the designer created the shape of the fire using found leaves first, to get a feel for how it would work before creating leaves themselves. I think that leaves could be simple, yet effective shapes to use within our designs, and we could use the laser cutter to help create the intricate patterns, without having to sit there and cut away with a scalpel for hours. We've also thought about looking into cutting letters into real leaves, but would need to experiment with this a bit further..
3D Flowers
I liked these 3D flowers, as they're simple yet effective, and could work really well with our Wilderness branding, as we are planning to incorporate wildlife, flowers, etc. You can also make them really big or small, and you can't really tell their size when photographed, so this could help with our production process, as larger flowers will be less fiddly!
