OUGD603: Wilderness Logo Research (Brief 8)

by Roxxie Blackham on Thursday, 19 February 2015

Because both me and James still feel as though the current logo for Wilderness needs an update, we decided to have a look into creating one that would be more suited. We both felt as though something hand rendered would suit the brand, especially as we want to work with bright colours, paper crafts and wildlife inspired design.

I decided to look into a variety of different hand rendered logotypes to get more of a feel to how we could design Wilderness' logo. I liked the 3D added aspect to this logo, as it meant that the designer could be adaptable, and use the flat version on products that wouldn't work with the 3D element.

What I liked about these designs was how they felt really French and vintage. Then the added element of turning them into animations made them that little bit more exciting. Using animations on the website or even on billboards could be really fun for the brief.

I love the script typefaces that have been used for these logos, as they add personality and movement to the design. Script typefaces could work well with the Wilderness logo, as you could make them look like twigs/branches, or even add flowers to the logo, as though the type is made from the stem of the flower, etc.
